Masterplan

A unique masterplan to reflect the demands of a post-Covid world

Opening up 36-acres of our city

Following extensive engagement with Nottingham City Council, relevant stakeholders and local people, international architecture firm Leonard Design Architects and placemaking specialists Studio Egret West have reimagined these 36-acres once again.

The new masterplan focuses on placemaking and people, striving to deliver a destination that is truly of Nottingham, for Nottingham.

1 The Island Quarter, situated at the south-west corner of the site, is now open with two restaurants, a 200-capacity events hall, state-of-the-art outdoor stage and 1000-capacity courtyard where people can dine, drink and dance by the canal. 1TIQ represents just 7% of the total development - and we're looking forward to launching the future phases.

Masterplan building

Green Space

The Island Quarter will draw nature in to all aspects of the site to create a new, verdant destination in the heart of a city. Featuring abundant green spaces and multi-functional public areas, the revised masterplan includes paths and parks where people will want to walk, meet, play, rest and relax.

Living

From young professionals, families and students, to recent graduates and downsizers, the residential offering will provide modern housing with a strong focus on sustainability. The Island Quarter’s resident community will have world-class amenities and green space on its doorstep, with unbeatable access to the rest of the East Midlands and the UK.

Working

From flexible co-working spaces to modern offices built for a new working world, The Island Quarter will create a new and modern hub for businesses. Situated in one of the UK's most innovative and dynamic cities, the site will attract a range of industries, with a particular focus on creative talent and local businesses.

Eating & Drinking

From brand new restaurant concepts to renowned national names and much loved local culinary talent, the food and drink offering at The Island Quarter will be a delicious destination for all. Serving office workers during the day, local residents in the evening, and young families at the weekend, the restaurants, cafés and bars will create additional public spaces for meeting, socialising and celebrating.

Culture

From world-class music and live theatre to locally created art and open-air public speaking, the cultural calendar will feature a broad mix of events and activities. With a variety of indoor and outdoor stages hosting productions of all kinds, The Island Quarter’s calendar will deliver an unmissable line-up of events in the heart of the East Midlands.

Science & Technology

We are building a new science and technology campus at The Island Quarter, bringing together some of the UK's most innovative businesses and organisations. Our new community will work in state-of-the-art laboratories and offices, with easy access to our site-wide amenities and gardens. Our ambition is to embrace Nottingham's legacy of innovation, and catalyse its patent output - one that already exceeds that of Oxford and Cambridge.
